Brian Calle is CEO and Publisher of L.A. Weekly, the Village Voice, Irvine Weekly and the Bay Area Marina Times. He is also a professor at the Chapman University School of Communication.

Prior to his current professional endeavors, Brian was vice president at Freedom Communications which owned the Orange County Register and Riverside Press-Enterprise. After its acquisition by the Southern California News Group, Brian was appointed to oversee opinion editorial content for its 11 newspapers and websites including the Los Angeles Daily News, Orange County Register, Riverside Press-Enterprise, Daily Breeze in Torrance, Long Beach Press-Telegram, Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, the Sun in San Bernardino and the Redlands Daily Facts.

He also served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Sally Ride Science where he worked under noted Astronaut and CEO Sally Ride and was the co-host of Fox 11’s “You Decide: SoCal” television news broadcast as well as host of the Catch-Up daily radio show on KABC.

Brian has also taught undergraduate students at California State University, Los Angeles and California State University, Fullerton and a graduate course at Pepperdine University.

Brian is an alumnus of the University of Southern California, California State University, Los Angeles and Mt. San Antonia College, respectively. And he is an emeritus member of the Board of Governors for the University of Southern California.
